Stepping onto the 6 1/2 acres at Holiday Open House is like stepping into a Hallmark Christmas Card!  Several of our historic homes will be decorated and open for you to tour.  Including a Colony House built in 1888, the Simi Adobe built by the Spanish in about 1810, and the magnificent two-story home built by the Strathearn’s in 1892.  And during Holiday Open House, tours of the buildings are free of charge.  The kids will love the face painter and Santa and Mrs. Claus are available for individual and family photos.

Elaine Lister is an accomplished Harpist.  The music she produces is beautiful and especially enjoyable during the holidays.

The voices of the Channel Island Harmony Chorus blend together for an unforgettable

One bell ringing is, well, just one bell ringing.  But when the Simi Valley Methodist Church Bell Ringers all get in the act, it is truly a wonderful sound.  If you want to really get in the holiday spirit, listing to this group of skilled Ringers will do the trick.

Also, don’t miss the Sinaloa Middle School Choir.  They are a great way to wind up Holiday Open House at Strathearn Park.

Singer Guitarist Nadean Dyer will be entertaining with Christmas songs just outside of the Old St. Rose Church.  Last year she sung “Here Comes Santa Claus” as Santa and Mrs. Claus entered the Park.  Fun!

Doug Lonngren will have his antique rope making machine set up and for a $5 donation to the Historical Society, people can turn ordinary twine into a fantastic rope.  And in keeping with the holidays, Doug will help you turn it into a keepsake rope wreath!

The Strathearn Park Mechanical Restoration Team will have their shop open with old motor displays, a Model T and a few old tractors on display.  They will even fire up some 100-year old hit-and-miss engines!

What in the heck is a hit-and-miss engine?  Click on this picture to see a quick video demonstration of a hit-and-miss engine.

This just in!

The Mechanical Restoration Team will be giving rides in Strathearn Historical Park’s 1915 Ford Model A Touring Car from 1:00 until about 1:45!

This is a special treat just for this event!

This 110 year old fully restored “Horseless Carriage” is a true time machine.
