I was born in
Lancaster, CA July 4th. Out in the middle of nowhere as my dad
worked on an Alfalfa ranch. I was the fourth child, older sister
and two older brothers. Due to the times we moved a lot, and I
do mean a lot. Started school in Santa Monica also went to a
school in Phx, AZ for a month and then moved to Tarzana, Ca to
finish Kindergarten. By the time I was 11, I had gone to 9
schools and that is also when we moved into the San Fernando
Valley, 1942. Also that year my youngest sister was born, so now
we are a family of 5. Didn't move again until I got married in
1951 to a Marine, in December between guard duty and KP. He was
stationed shortly after in Oahu, Hawaii, and of course I joined
him there for 5 months. Our first child Andy was born in
November 1952 and in 1955 we had Cindy. That same year my
husband, Garn, went to work for IBM. In 1979 our first grandson
was born and we were transferred to Dallas, TX in 1980 for 13
years until Garn retired. During the 80's we were blessed again
with a granddaughter and another grandson. Then another grandson
came along in 1993. The first two born here in North Hollywood,
CA and the other two Wasilla, Alaska. Needless to say, I visit
Alaska a lot. Before moving back to CA we lived 5 years in Munds
Park, AZ until I wanted to come home and so we did. My daughter
Cindy and myself became docents at the Ronald Reagan Library and
I became a docent at the Strathearn. I enjoy doing the children
tours. My daughter and I are no longer docents at the Reagan, we
are instead volunteers at the Getty Villa in Malibu, which we
are enjoying very much. When living in Dallas I was active in
the Assistance League and again in Flagstaff, AZ. I also was a
docent at the Museum of Northern Arizona. In my spare time, I
sew, do crafts, and read. I also plan on getting more involved
with my Reiki and Angel reading. I love getting together with my
friends and just really enjoy enjoying life. I do a little
traveling with friends whenever we can all get together, Sedona,
Hawaii and places yet to see.
