DOCENT OF THE MONTH
November 2006

Annette Cheney

I was born in Maryland and moved to California at age two.  I grew up in the San Fernando Valley and moved to Simi Valley almost 32 Years ago, raising 5 sons and working as a substitute teacher in our community.

My husband, Jerry, and I have lived in our present home at the west end of Simi since 1990.  We are newly retired and our ongoing hobbies are grandchildren, gardening, and photography, in that order.  Since we have 5 chickens that share our yard, we lovingly known as “Chicken Grandma” and “Chicken Grandpa” (or just plain CHICKEN) by our 6 grandchildren.

I have been a docent for about 2 years and had a good laugh when I got the card in the mail letting me know that I was Docent of the Month, as I had totally forgotten to be at my post the Sunday before!!!  So this is a dubious honor, but I am graciously accepting it.
