Louise Moriarty

My name is Louise Moriarty and I have been a docent at Strathearn Park since 1997. I’ve lived in Simi Valley since 1967and often heard about the park from my five children who went there with their school classes. I first visited the park in 1997 when I took Pat Haven’s class. I have five grandchildren, so far, and I look forward to bringing them to the park when they are older.

I’m active at Our Saviour Lutheran Church and have just completed a four-year term on its Church Council. I am currently on the Women’s Board and Telecare Committee chairman. I also volunteer at Simi Valley’s Crisis Pregnancy Center and am a member of the Republican Women’s club. I enjoy playing Bingo in a group with three of the other docents from my Saturday at the park and other friends.

I decided to become a docent when another docent, Barb Willis, suggested it to me. I think that my favorite parts of being a docent are the chance to meet interesting and likeable friends while learning and helping others learn about the history of our valley.
