Christmas Memories” Program

At Strathearn Park

The Christmas season is filled with tradition and special childhood memories. Strathearn Historical Park & Museum is set to rekindle the kid in all of us with old-time décor, tours and special programs.

On Saturday, Dec 9, 2006 at 2pm, “kids of all ages”

are invited to a FREE program:

“TOYS AND GAMES – A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE”.   Come to the park’s Visitor  enter and listen to the stories behind some of the most beloved toys and games of the  nineteenth to the mid-twentieth century and take some time to play them again!  Learn  what “to knuckle down” really means.  Do you remember when most toys were  homemade and one of your great expectations was opening a brand new box of crayons  and breathing in that delicious smell?  The park museum buildings are festooned for the  season so schedule time before or after the presentation for a docent lead tour between 1-4pm.

 Docent tours

Are available on each Wed & Thurs at 1pm and every Sat & Sun between 1-4pm (last  tour starts at 3pm).  All docent tours request a $3 donation.  The Visitor Center offers a special Christmas Gift Shop and is also a “Be a Santa to a Senior” program site.  The  Visitor Center and the park grounds are open Tues-Friday, 9am-2pm for shopping or  self-guided tours.  Strathearn Park is at 137 Strathearn Place (turn West from Madera,  behind K-Mart)  Website www.simihistory.com or call 526-6453.
